The main pathway for skilled immigrants (foreign nationals) who desire to live permanently in Canada in any province other than Quebec is through the Express Entry system in Canada. Applicants submit an online profile, and factors like age, education, language proficiency, employment history, adaptability, etc. are scored. If you are eligible for an express entry program, your profile will be ranked and put into a pool of candidates. Draws are held periodically where the top applicants are invited to apply for permanent residence. If invited, you must submit your PR application within the ICCRC-specified window of time. To improve your score and selection chances under the express entry system, you must acquire as many points as you can. As a result, a job offer, higher education, and better language test results (IELTS, CELPIP, etc.) can all increase your CRS score and increase your chances of passing the Express entry draw’s cutoff score. Applications for three economic immigration programmes are managed by Express Entry.

• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): This category is for skilled workers who want to permanently immigrate to Canada and have job experience abroad. If you have experience in one of the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) job groupings, you are considered to have that skill :
  • Managerial jobs (skill type 0)
  • Professional jobs (skill level A)
  • Technical jobs and skilled trades (skill level B)
    
    
• Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): This category is for skilled people who desire to immigrate to Canada permanently who are certified in a specialised trade. The Federal Skilled Trades Program combines several trades into categories that are connected to:
  • Industrial, electrical and construction trades
  • Maintenance and equipment operation trades
  • Supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production
  • Processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators
  • Chefs and cooks
  • Butchers and bakers
    
    
• Canadian Experience Class:This category is for skilled people who have worked in Canada and wish to immigrate permanently.
  
  
• Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from the Express Entry pool through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to meet local labour market needs.
